Outward, Montana de Oro, Central Coast, California, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, 2024
In my opinion, it's some of the most exciting wine that is coming out of California. Their vineyard sites are across the SLO coast and Santa Ynez Valley with a focus on farming and minimal intervention in the cellar. Montana de Oro translates to Mountain of Gold and it's a blend of three different white wine vineyard sites from the central coast, all tied together in one bottle. It’s a blend of what I like to call the holy trinity of white wine: chardonnay, chenin blanc and sauvignon blanc. The expression is so elegant and pretty: orchard fruits, juicy lemons, incredibly balanced and soft. It's the perfect white wine for summer to be reflective on sun drenched days. I love the couple’s passion and energy behind this wine, it’s so evident from the first sip and is such a gorgeous direction for the future of California wine.
