In Catalonia, there is a dreamy region called Terra Alta. A place that is unspoiled, serene, romantic, and was very influential for Picasso and his dive into cubism. It’s a land that is lost and found at the same time- cerebral and present. Celler Frisach is run by two brothers, Francesc and Joan who inherited the lands from their family that was passed down over 200 years. The energy this producer brings is amazing and dreamy and really authentic. There is a real synergy that they have to the land, the humility that they bring to their approach and desires is so evident in the energy that each bottle has. There is a feeling that so much of their energy is rooted in the past and honoring their ancestors, while at the same time precisely focused on making some dope ass wine from all of their root down energy. I love it! It is not a weighted down grenache blanc at all, it is the indigenous and energized expression of the grape in a true form. Touches of green apple, vibrant citrus, maybe a tiny tweak of anise. There is so much energy that the wine is complex, approachable and super delicious in the end.
