Chateau de Bois-Brincon
Chateau de Bois-Brincon, 'BB' Rouge, Loire Valley, France, Cabernet Franc, 2022
It’s a fun, juicy, jumpy, lively cabernet franc from Anjou in France that is going to meet you right where you are at. The wine is medium bodied and made from some of the oldest vines in Anjou. One of the coolest things about wine is how the vine ages because imagine how far down the little vines have penetrated into the various layers of terroir over decades of growth. These vines are nearly 100 years old, and now vines don’t last forever but sometimes where the soil and terroir is the best, vines tend to thrive. The clergy founded this vineyard site in 1219, which is straight up medieval. It really boggles my mind about how people knew way back in the day where to plant vineyards. They were so in touch with earth, so much closer to nature that some of the best vineyard sites in the world today were founded hundreds of years ago. Hand built stone walls crafted elegantly around them. The BB rouge is aged partially in stainless steel and barrique barrels; there are notes of herbs and game and red fruits.
Delicious with Pork rillettes; vegetable lasagna; mushroom risotto
