This might be your first spin around the block with Wasenhaus but I guarantee it won’t be your last. These wines are highly coveted. Pronounced (Vahhh-sen-House) the wines are made in the Baden area of Germany. The soil is pure limestone, which is such a killer energy for this pinot noir. Some might say that this wine is a gateway drug for the rest of the line up and honestly I would agree. Once you fall for the reds their Chardonnays are literally the bees knees. The wine is Grand Cru level aka cut from the same cloth as some of the best in the region. A sip is like eating a crunchy pomegranate in the middle of the Black Forest. It feels like there’s Burgundy in its DNA but this pinot is really one of a kind.
Serving temp: 65° cellar temp or with a slight chill
Pairing: mushroom crusted pork chop, crispy roasted potatoes
