Wavy wines might be one of my favorite California wine makers especially when it comes to skin contact/ orange wine. This is an area where they really shine. Started by Elliot and Jude, two passionate wine enthusiasts who have segwayed over to the world of the maker. This wine is a blend of six month maceration on the greco in anfora and the vermentino has just two weeks of maceration which brings together freshness, saltiness with gorgeous texture from all of the skin contact. This wine is elegant, it’s amber in color and has pronounced notes of apricots, tea and ocean sea spray. I think this is one of the best wines they have made, it’s certainly the most precise. For a brand that is mostly known for fun and inexpensive orange wines with names like Sunshine, this wine is mature and serious. I love when people take a passion and it spills over so much that they have to become the maker.
