Fabien Jouves, You F*$% My Wine, Occitanie, Languedoc, France, Jurancon Noir/Merlot/Malbec/Valdiguie, 2024
Jouves masterfully crafts delicious wines year over year from the Languedoc in France, however there is a really fun interplay of fresh and pretty fruit in the 2024 edition. The name is a little x rated for sure, but it was Jouves’s response to the AOC wine laws in Cahors when he wanted to put Jurancon Noir into his blend. Given its presence in this wine he can not say that his wine is from Cahors, it's labeled as a Vin de France. (As a side note, Jurancon Noir is the cross between Malbec and Folle Blanche- very rare!!). This wine is playful and plush, it is perfect when it’s chilled but doesn’t have to be. The elegance and liveliness collide in a red wine that is made completely naturally: there is no oenological tinkering or inputs as Jouves would say. It’s really such a beautiful, true expression of the south west of France.
Pairing: BLTs…the time has finally come! It would be lovely with a fried chicken spread or crab linguini.
