Domaine Rousset
Domaine Rousset, Les Mejeans, Crozes-Hermitage, Rhone, France, Syrah, 2020
Syrah is a red wine grape that really captures my heart when it’s from the northern rhone in France. Robert & Stephane Rousset run this biodynamic estate, they are the 10th and 11th generation to run the estate, which is incredible!! What a lineage. This is some serious Syrah. It has 6 years of age on it, and the vines sit on granite bedrock, which really is some of the best terroir for Syrah. The wines are medium body plus, there is just such a concentration of flavors and an insanely long finish on the palate. A finish is how long the flavor / texture of the wine lingers in your mouth. There is wonderful grip coupled with silk tannins, it's the kind of Crozes you can drink now or you can throw it in your cellar for five years and circle back to it.
Serving temp: Cellar temp, around 65 degrees, stored in a dark and cool spot.
Pairing: Lamb is a perfect pairing for this wine!!
