Valfaccenda
Valfaccenda, Vindabeive, Piemonte, Italy, Nebbiolo, 2023
I love the Valfaccenda wines and have been buying them for a long time. Luca Faccenda grew up in the hills of Roero and his family has been growing grapes in the Valle Faccenda, a small valley between Canale and Cisterna for generations. This is a newer bottling of Nebbiolo from their vini-bisesti line, which are the wines that are ready to go. This is not a Nebbiolo that needs to age like its Barolo and Barbaresco cousins. She’s ready to party…like now. Luca has no interest in making those serious, fancy wines. He is happiest working in the vines, where he is one of a handful in the area to work organically. This nebb has a light maceration period to keep the fruit juicy and the tannins low. The wine pours a stunning shade of ruby and is perfumed with strawberries, minerals and earth. I have some pairings below but tbh this can really go with anything!
Serving temp: 45 min in the fridge before serving
Pairing: Italian hoagie, cheese pizza, falafel/shawarma situation
